The Plan
I started with the driving question, as pictured below. The students came up with important research questions about an insect that they would like to learn about. Then we went outside to look for insects that could be found locally.
Students participated in research using books. They picked out the creepy-crawly they wanted to research. They started to build their art project and started with the appearance of the creepy-crawly.
Students used non-fiction books and the computer to research habitat and food needs of their creepy crawly. They added to the project as they answered their research questions.
